Community Foundation Partnership
In early 2010, the CCDC and the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington solidified a partnership to streamline the complexities of managing the capital campaign and endowment fund. This exciting collaboration will help to bring the dream of a new community center to fruition.
The Community Foundation’s 501. c.3 tax status provides it with the tools and expertise to manage a wide variety of gifts. In addition to traditional cash donations, it is able to convert stock, life insurance, real estate, tangible personal property, retirement plan assets and IRA’s, and assets from other trusts.
Charitable gifts qualify for maximum tax advantage under federal law. For more information and ideas on ways to integrate your financial planning with charitable giving, ask your professional advisor or contact the Community Foundation.

How do we pay for this project?
Funding a project of this size normally relies upon several sources including user fees, private donations, State and Federal assistance, and local taxes. The most likely method of funding the construction and on-going operation of Community Centers is with public tax dollars. The creation of a Metropolitan Park District (MPD) is the most realistic option at this time. Given the current state of the economy, the timing of the vote and the amount of the tax levy must be given careful consideration. The creation of the MPD and the funding needed for construction and operation will require voter approval.
The CCDC recognizes that private donations are an important part of this endeavor and will explore and invite local community participation and financial support. Once basic funding is secured for the center, members of the committee will explore opportunities for conducting a major capital campaign, utilizing the expertise of the Community Foundation, in order to receive endowments, estate contributions, and corporate support.
Our meetings have always been and will continue to be public, and we invite you to be a part of the process. Please join us by being a proactive planning for a new community center that best fits our community’s needs.
