Investment & Funding
The building of the Camas Community Center is the first partnership of this kind in our history. Building a cost-effective, community-based facility is a challenge we have agreed upon as neighbors—neighbors with a common history working together.
There are several ways you can participate in the design, fundraising, and groundbreaking of the new community center:
- Reach out – contact one of the members of the Friend’s Board or CCDC to articulate your ideas, your concerns and the ways you can support.
- Stay connected to this website. We will keep it up to date to help you learn step by step the many activities, subcommittees and next steps to building a viable community center
- Volunteer – sign up to be a volunteer for the Friends or the local Camas Community Center.
- Donate – every penny you donate will help move us closer to our goal of building a new community center. Your donation is tax deductible (see you local tax preparer for details). You can donate to support current programs, to the CCDC’s focus on capacity building and fundraising and or designate to be a major contributor for our bricks and mortar capital campaign.
Your Community Center – Your Investment
The community center project is still in preliminary design stages. With input and guidance from local residents, the project elements will be clearly identified and refined. Elements currently being discussed include features such as the indoor swimming pool, senior space, recreation areas, meeting spaces and kitchen, workout facilities and a basketball court. As the scope of these improvements are refined, so will the costs. The CCDC is committed to doing all it can to minimize cost, maximize collaborations, and increase the capacity of the community center to meet our growing community’s needs but we need your active participation and support.
How do we pay for this project?
Funding a project of this size normally relies upon several sources including user fees, private donations, State and Federal assistance, and local taxes. The CCDC recognizes that private donations are an important part of this endeavor and will explore and invite local community participation and financial support. Members of the planning committee are planning a major capital campaign, utilizing the expertise of the Community Foundation, in order to receive endowments, estate contributions, and corporate support.
Our meetings have always been and will continue to be public, and we invite you to be a part of the process. Please join us by being a proactive planning for a new community center that best fits our community’s needs.
We need your help and support
